The brief
Research shows that I in 5 men report being depressed, anxious and even suicidal as a result of their cancer diagnosis. Men feel compelled to keep health issues to themselves and ‘soldier on regardless’.  To combat this, we were briefed to encourage men with cancer to have meaningful conversions about cancer and to seek support from Macmillan’s phone support line.

The solution
We created a campaign and these involved use producing packs which were sent to workplaces and sports clubs. These included awareness raising posters that dramatise what is said and what isn’t said when two men chat.

Some of the words within ordinary conversations were UV glossed, which makes them hard to see. The campaign was held together with the call to action of Let’s talk about what you can’t talk about.

The fundraising elements were included in the Let’s Talk concept. The idea was also well executed in three short online films. The success of the idea lies in it’s simple demonstration of the problem as well as the the solution.
