Macmillan Cancer Support - Illustration style
The brief
I was asked to develop a new illustration style to replace Macmillan’s under-used and old fashioned silhouettes, as part of a refresh of the brand. But also make them easy to produce so they could made by any member of the creative team and external suppliers, but ultimately bring them up to date.
The creative solution
I used the simple idea of a multi-layered screen printing style. I took advantage of the overlaying of colours and layer movement to create a fresh approach and take full advantage of the new colour palette.
This is now used as the new style of illustration for Macmillan and we currently have a bank of over 200 different ones. They are used for everything, from advertising the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning (Macmillan’s biggest fundraiser) to cancer awareness posters in GPs waiting rooms and across all socials and CRMs.
