Interior grid system

The brief
Globe Law and Business was established in 2005 as an imprint of Globe Business Media Group. They set out to create law books which are sufficiently high level to be of real use to the experienced professional, yet still accessible and easy to navigate. Most of our authors are drawn from Magic Circle law firms and other top commercial companies, both in the UK and internationally.

I was briefed to create a recognisable cover system and grid system for over 200 books. These books covered variety of subjects and sizing. They also had to have a design that would not date, due to the length of print times and free from problems related with image sourcing.

The creative solution
Taking these strict briefing elements I created a gradient and colour system to solve these problems. But keeping the same layout and gold typography to keep them in the same family. Each book was colour coded for the relevant fields and could be sectioned off to create a succinct filing system making it easy to navigate.

This system was very successful and is still in use at GLB and all can be purchased from the GLB website.
